Types of Leukemia

Most leukemia is divided into four classifications:

1. Chronic Lymphocytic Leukemia (CLL)

2.  Acute Lymphocytic Leukemia (ALL)

3.  Chronic Myelogenous Leukemia (CML)

4.  Acute Myelogenous Leukemia (AML)

Hairy Cell Leukemia is a CLL or Chronic Lymphocytic Leukemia.  This means that it is a slowly progressing leukemia which permits the growth of greater numbers of more developed cells.  In general, these more mature cells can carry out some of their normal functions.
