Our Mission and History

The Hairy Cell Leukemia Foundation (HCLF) seeks to improve outcomes for patients through research in hairy cell leukemia, by advancing knowledge about HCL among oncologists and hematologists, and by providing educational resources and comfort to patients and families affected by the disease.

In 2008, a group of hairy cell leukemia practitioners, patients, and donors met to discuss areas for collaboration to advance the treatment and management of HCL. Following this meeting, an international consortium of experts was formed to make further progress in the field. The collective effort of these experts ultimately merged with an existing volunteer-driven organization to create today’s Hairy Cell Leukemia Foundation.
